Palmiers recipe – 86 calories
Ingredients:
1 (375 g) packet puff pastry
2-3 tablespoons caster sugar
Preparation:
1. Roll the pastry on a surface sprinkled with caster sugar out to a rectangular shape (about 8×14 inches), and trim the edges with a sharp knife.
2. Sprinkle some caster sugar over the top of the pastry.
3. Fold in the long sides of the rectangle so that they meet in the center, and sprinkle with a little more sugar.
4. Fold in 1/2 lengthways and slightly press.
5. Cover and refrigerate for about 30 minutes.
6. Cut the pastry roll into slices (about 0.5 inches each) and place them on a lightly greased oven tray, about 4 inches apart.
7. Bake in a moderately hot oven for about 10 minutes, then turn the palmiers over and bake for another 10 minutes (or until crisp).
8. Remove the palmiers from the oven and place them on a wire rack to cool.
9. Sprinkle with sifted icing sugar.
