Here’s a great recipe for baby carrots – because of the sauce that gets absorbed into them, the carrots will have a very nice texture and flavor. Very simple and tasty, this recipe will be appreciated even by those who don’t like carrots!

Yum! My mom use to make a very similar dish when i was a child. She used regular carrots cut into “coins” (Baby carrots didn’t exist yet) and the only thing different is she didn’t use maple syrup. Just butter and brown sugar on steamed carrots. A very fond childhood memory. Thanks for bringing that back to me. 🙂

could I ask if there is a substitute for maple syrup, sometimes it’s not readily available n our place c: please answer it I really love to try this c:
On a Diet
Here’s an easy substitute for maple syrup. Ingredients needed:
1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon maple extract (or vanilla extract)
1 teaspoon butter
1 cup boiling water
Place the granulated sugar in a heavy skillet. Heat until the sugar melts and turns brown (keep the heat very low so the sugar doesn’t burn). Meanwhile, place the brown sugar into a heavy saucepan. Pour water over the brown sugar and bring to a boil (without stirring). Add the caramelized white sugar to the melted brown sugar in the saucepan. Simmer, stirring often, until the syrup has thickened. Remove from the heat, and whisk in the butter and maple/vanilla extract.
This makes about 1 cup.

Looks like a great way to keep those baby carrots I keep buying, from eventually getting tossed! Why didn’t I think of using maple syrup? lol…
