Beer Bread recipe – 96 calories
Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups flour
2/3 cup yellow cornmeal
1 (12ounce) bottle beer
4 teaspoons dried onion flakes
1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
2/3 cup grated parmesan cheese
melted butter
2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
Preparation:
1. Stir together flour, cornmeal, baking soda, baking powder and salt.
2. Place with remaining ingredients in jar, layering if bottle is clear.
3. Stir in one 12-oz. can or bottle of beer just until combined.
4. Pour into a greased 8x4x2 inch loaf pan.
5. Bake in a 375 degree oven for about 35-40 minutes (or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean).
6. Cover with aluminium foil during the last 10 minutes of baking if necessary (to prevent over-browning).
7. Remove the bread from the oven and brush with butter, if desired.
8. Cool in pan for 10 minutes; remove from pan.
9. Serve warm or cool completely on a wire rack.
